Fraternity and Sorority Life
at Southern Miss
At Southern Miss, CPC is proud to be part of a vibrant, supportive Greek community that feels like family. Alongside the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and our dedicated professional staff, we share a commitment to citizenship, scholarship, leadership, and fellowship. Together, we create opportunities to grow, connect, and make memories that last a lifetime.
Whether you’re reaching out for support, collaborating on campus events, or simply celebrating what it means to belong, our shared goal is always to be “TOGETHER IN PURPOSE. TOGETHER ON PURPOSE.”

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), warmly known as the Divine Nine, unites nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations with a shared mission of service, unity, and cultural empowerment. Founded during a time of segregation and limited access to higher education, the NPHC was created to foster cooperation, amplify the impact of Black fraternities and sororities, and champion advancement for Black communities. Membership opens the door to meaningful opportunities, such as scholarship, leadership, and networking, while nurturing lifelong bonds and preserving rich cultural heritage. Guided by principles of service, scholarship, and social justice, NPHC members have made lasting contributions in civic engagement, public health, and economic empowerment, while uplifting their communities and inspiring future generations.

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) serves as the guiding organization for fraternities affiliated with the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), fostering a spirit of brotherhood, leadership, and service on campus. Southern Miss IFC encourages members to embrace values such as empathy, ambition, and excellence and to demonstrate them through academic achievement, philanthropy, and personal growth. Each fraternity not only builds lifelong friendships but also supports national charitable causes, ranging from children’s health to veterans’ services. Together, IFC chapters collaborate on service projects and events that strengthen their bonds, give back to the community, and create a lasting, positive impact at Southern Miss.
All Fraternity and Sorority Life students are supported by an office staffed by dedicated professionals who devote their time and effort to the success of each individual member and the entire Greek community.
