junior panhellenic council

The Junior Panhellenic Council is composed of three (3) newly initiated members from each of the eight (8) chapters on our campus. This council provides a voice for our new members of the College Panhellenic Council and helps guide them through their first year of membership as Panhellenic women. The JPC also promotes Circle of Sisterhood, our CPC philanthropy, by holding fundraising events for this cause. Scroll below to meet our members and see what we have been up to this year!

what's happening in JPC?

Sweet Tea with JPC

Sweet Tea with JPC is the signature philanthropy event held by the Junior Panhellenic Council. This event is held each semester in Shoemaker Square on USM’s campus, and the Junior Panhellenic Council sells glasses of Sweet Tea and Lemonade to raise money for Circle of Sisterhood, which is the College Panhellenic Council’s collective philanthropy effort.

When we hold this event, all of the proceeds go to Circle of Sisterhood, and we have an activity that ties in with women empowerment. During the last few semesters, Sweet Tea with JPC has been a huge success, and in the Spring of 2023, JPC raised around $600 for Circle of Sisterhood! Be on the lookout for our members selling tickets for the event this semester!

change for change

Change for Change is one of the newer philanthropy events for the Junior Panhellenic Council, and the first time it was held was March of 2023! This event is held during March because it is Women’s History Month, and the proceeds of this event are donated to Circle of Sisterhood, which strives to provide women around the world with access to education.

The event is essentially a change war between our 8 Panhellenic sororities at Southern Miss. Donation buckets are placed in each house from March 1st to March 31st, and the women in each chapter can donate change and paper money up to $5 in value. The totals are calculated at halfway by each chapter’s JPC members to show who is in the leaderboard, and then they are calculated again after March 31st to determine who raised the most for Circle of Sisterhood. The chapter with the highest amount raised through the month receives a gift basket donated by the Junior Panhellenic Council for their efforts toward our philanthropy!

Our first year holding this event was a massive success because we raised $901.71!
